This much more spacious, almost 'mini-hall' in size room came about through an idea by our member Ian, who aided and abetted by Marie, managed to transform the area into something much more fitting for events such as the above. (A thank you from all of our Group to both of you).

At this point I would love to add pictures of the event but we have something much better. The event was captured on video. All that is needed is to edit the 'footage' and up it'll go here on this web site. It was hoped to have it up before now but it will take a few more days as it's more time consuming than simply putting up a few pics.

Video now online - you can see it here....

It was a great evening and thanks to everyone who attended. The musicians were Paul O' Colmain and Michael Miller who also contributed their poetry, as did Bill Hogan and Eleanor Ui' Drisceoil. Marvellous! Rather than write more on the event I look forward to putting up video of the event within the next two or three days.

Thanks also go to Mary and Marie of our Artists Group for organising and supplying great drinks and food on the day and to Bill Hogan for his tasty cheese and to others who brought along food and drinks for the event. We'll certainly be holding a lot more events during the year. The day was grey, cold and stormy but our intrepid group turned up nonetheless. We met at Working Artist Studios at 11:00 am and headed off into the town of Skibbereen until around 2:30 pm.

Since it was so cold and stormy followed by rain halfway through the Sketch Crawl, many of us hunkered down in the local coffee shops, much to the interest of the staff and other customers.

Here's a pic of just some of our group at work. Followed by a small selection of sketches. A thank you goes to one of our Sketch Crawlers Anna, who brought along some great German style, very tasty cakes - thanks Anna!

The next Sketch Crawl takes place on April 11th 2009 from 2:00 pm until 5:00 pm starting at our studios in Skibbereen, West Cork. You can read more here about Sketching and the Sketch Crawls.

Thanks to everyone who turned up. Since Ian was one of the founding members of the group around seven years ago, rejoining would be a more accurate word to use. In his artistic pursuits Ian is best known for his drawings and especially his marvellous, unique sculptures made from found objects. We are now delighted to have a great balance of paintings, drawings, fine art prints and now sculpture on display in our premises. A feature of Ian's work is, all can be displayed indoors but some of Ian's sculptures look stunning outdoors and are designed to age gracefully in all weathers.

You can read some more about Ian here.
