Ballydehob TradFest 2023
We had a wonderful and very busy time during the Ballydehob Traditional Music Festival (TradFest). On Saturday 1st April (no kidding!) we hosted five different events in the main gallery.
The day began with some wonderful FOOLING by Mícheál Rowsome, who introduced us to the fine art of fooling – a sort of blend of psychology, philosophy and stand-up comedy!
Then, Paul Ó Colmáin hosted THE GIVEN NOTE, a selection of poetry about music and traditional music and songs.
Then came the launch of Paul’s ep and video, PORT BÉIL – MOUTH MUSIC.
A short experimental music experience followed later in the afternoon, with one of our current artists in residence, Rob Ireson, at the controls.
And finally, a very theatrical occasion, IMMRAM AN PHRÉACHÁIN, a long poem as Gaeilge written and performed by Thaddeus Ó Buachalla and a very talented trio of musicians, Sam Uí Bhuachalla, Moze Jacobs and Paul McMahon. We even had subtitles on a large screen! Definitely, we will have them back
