Tom Weld – Artworks is a retrospective exhibition featuring paintings and drawings from over fifty years of artistic practice. The exhibition opened on Saturday 19 September 2020 and will run until 23 October 2020. The body of work on display includes Tom’s marvellous Aran Island drawings; his powerful, politically-inspired Maps series of paintings and works made alongside his students. Inspired by land, seen mostly from above, by history, archaeology, politics and language, among other influences, Tom mainly uses oils – on a variety of surfaces: canvas; paper; found wood; and to various scale.
This is a powerful, “must-see” exhibition that stretches outside the traditional gallery space to take over the entire building at Working Artist Studios.

“I started painting, untrained, while reading English Literature at University. I was as interested in words as in paint. Some of this work dates back to the ’70s. Most was done since moving to Ireland in 2012.”
