Oíche Chultúir: Culture Night 2023 (Fri 22nd Sept.) is once again upon us and this year we are celebrating as Gaeilge.
Here, in Working Artist Studios, in Ballydehob, the musical and cultural heart of West Cork, we are hosting a Pop-Up Gaeltacht le ceol ón grúpa (with music from) Clann.ÓC on Fri.22nd Sept. at 5.00pm in a performance called Geantraí, Goltraí & Suantraí.
Clann.ÓC are Paul, Dubhaltach & Murchadh Ó Colmáin and they will be performing a set of Paul’s original songs (in a modern style) with vocals, guitar, bouzouki, banjo & jaw’s harp. The songs range from ballad to rock, blues to jazz and some are gleaned from Paul’s acclaimed double album, Geantraí, Goltráí agus Suantraí while others are new. There will be subtitles provided of the lyrics in both English and Irish so the audience can fully appreciate the songs.
Like in Paul’s popular classes, the idea is to gently introduce people to Irish, the language, music & culture, not to terrify or overwhelm – so don’t be afraid!
