We are delighted and honoured to be once again playing a part in the wonderful Ballydehob TradFest in WAS. We will be presenting not one, not two, not three, not four, but FIVE!!! different, exciting events on Sat. 1st April. West Cork – Ballydehob – Working Artist Studios – is where it’s all happening! Read on…
To begin, and given that it’s April 1st, we are thrilled to offer you a Feast of Fooling with Mícheál Rowsome. Who would want to be a fool in this day and age!? Micheál is relearning the Art of Fooling, a sort of messenger for the inner world that resides in all of us. Can we look see be and fly to a place where our dreams can be realised (with real eyes)? It’s impossible, surely, or maybe, I’mPossible!
The Given Note 12.00pm (noon) Paul Ó Colmáin will host a lively music & poetry session with plenty of special guests.
Then, at 2.00pm, Port Béil – Mouth Music The launch of a new animated music DVD and EP by Paul Ó Colmáin and Colm Rooney at Ballydehob TradFest WAS featuring Paul’s tunes, mouth music (dowdling) and Paul’s illustrations. Two new polkas composed by Paul, “Timpeall an Tí” and “Seachain an Drisiúr” make the soundtrack for a humorous couple of minutes. The tunes, sung and recorded by Paul, will be on a new ep along with his a capella version of Dúlamán.

Then, Immram an Phréacháin 6.15pm Multi-award-winning poet, author composer, Thaddeus Ó Buachalla, is an exciting new voice. His début, multi-award-winning novel, EL echoes the work of Umberto Eco in its bizarre fusion of science fantasy and historical fiction. Tonight, Thaddeus will read from his new work Immram an Phréacháin, (The Crow’s Journey) a surreal journey through Cork City by two pals at night, with musical accompaniment this evening, at Ballydehob TradFest WAS, from Sam Uí Bhuachalla (harp), Moze Jacobs (clarinet and sax) and Paul McMahon (guitar and banjo).
Guth úrnua mealltach atá ag Thaddeus Ó Buachalla, úrscéalaí, file agus cumadóir agus dúradh go n-aithneofá macalla ó Umberto Eco sa chéad úrscéal uaidh, EL. Léifidh sé a shaothar nua Immram an Phréacháin dúinn, dán fada atá scríofa i dtraidisiún na scéalta iomraimh. Anseo áfach, feicimid turas osréalach trí Chathair Chorcaí san oíche. Léifidh sé le tionlacan cruite ó Sam Uí Bhuachalla, Moze Jacobs (clairinéad agus sacsafón) agus Paul McMahon (giotár, dordghiotár agus bainseó).

Where’s the fifth event, I hear you ask? It’s the exhibition of work by members of Working Artist Studios during the Ballydehob TradFest, of course! Paintings, prints, sculpture and new and experimental work on show. As usual, the artists’ studios are open to the public, just wander in!
