We are thrilled to be part of the Ballydehob Trad Festival once again this year. And it is a special year: the 20th anniversary! Woohoo!
We have two separate events on:
On Friday 11th April at 2.00pm, Béal le Chéile, a workshop of amhráin as Gaeilge (songs in Irish) led by well-known singer, Paul Ó Colmáin.
€10. All singers very welcome and no knowledge of Irish is needed for this. We will start with very simple songs and work our way along. €10.
Then, next day, Saturday 12th April at 5.00pm, we are delighted to welcome
Breda Cooney with her one-woman show,
This will be a free event.
Join Breda, ‘The Whistling Balladeer’ for this special free concert at Ballydehob Trad Festival on Saturday, April 12th at 5pm in the Working Artist Studios.
This will be a music performance and a talk on whistling (mouth whistling) which will cover the history of whistling, with musical interludes – tunes and songs –
to illustrate the talk. Breda takes us on a fascinating, musical journey with her ‘puss music’, her whistling and her singing as she tells the story of whistling and her
own story as well. Not to be missed!
Trad tunes, slow airs and classical music are all part of Breda’s repertoire and she also has a special interest in folk songs and their origins.
