Double Poetry book launch: Afric McGlinchey & Paul Casey June 1st 2012

On Friday, 1st June we were privileged to host the launch of two new books of poetry by two fine poets, Afric McGlinchey  and Paul Casey,  both Irish-born, Cork-based and with strong connections with Africa.

The books launched were, “The Lucky Star of Hidden Things” by Afric McGlinchey and “home more or less” by Paul Casey. Both are published by Salmon Poetry.

Besides writing poetry, Afric is a poetry reviewer, editor and teacher and Paul is a film maker and also runs Cork City’s weekly poetry session, Ó Bhéal.

A sizeable and very appreciative section of West Cork’s art, poetry & music fans were on hand to experience a wonderful evening of beautiful poetry, sensitively delivered by Afric and Paul.

House band, Disappearing Shoes provided some musical interludes and , as usual, the atmosphere was warm, welcoming and wine-drenched! Several members of the audience, among them, Seamus Hogan, Lothar Luken and Rosie O’Regan read their own poems afterwards.

Go raibh míle maith agaibh d’Afric and Paul for sharing their wonderful work and to all who came, read and listened. And to Tomasz Madajczak for the fantastic photos.

Our next adventures will be during the Skibbereen Arts Festival  at the end of July. Watch this space!
