Tyrone born visual artist Sarah Ruttle is a graduate of Textiles 2002 from DJCAD Dundee, Scotland. Working across disciplines she works using textiles, print and illustration. Collaboration is central to her participatory practice, developing projects both with other artists and participants within an Arts and Health context. It is important to Sarah to portray a participant’s voice with honesty and integrity in and through collaborative opportunities. Sarah builds creative connections through a combination of making and storytelling, while using a multi-sensory approach.
Sarah is a recipient of the Arts Council’s ‘Arts Participation Bursary Award’ 2021. The purpose of this award is to support professional artists to develop their art practice. It provides artists with the time and resources to think, research, reflect and critically engage with their art.
Sarah will be engaging in practical experimentation to develop new solo work and working with collaborators while also reflecting on her participatory practice in Arts & Health through research, discussion and mentorship. During Sarah’s residency in Working Artists Studio she will take the space to create a series of artwork responding to her conversations with healthcare staff and peers working in Arts & Health.
